Grading Policy/Philosophy
Parents please sign up for parent portal to have instant access to your students grades.
Grades are meant to serve the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administrators. I believe they show whether mastery of a skill has taken place or how much progress has been or needs to be made.
I do my best to comply with all district policies on grades. If any part of my policy contradicts the district policy, district policy will be followed. Please contact me if you see any discrepancies.
My grading policy is a living document. As I learn and discover new research, my policy will likely change too.
Currently this is what works in my classroom.
Daily Grades: 50% Work done in class should demonstrate whether the student has learned the objective. If no work is received before the final day of the reporting period (3 weeks), the missing grade will be kept as a zero. When turning work in late on canvas students should tell me in person or through email that the work has been turned in. I do my best to check for late work. It is easier if I know that it is there. Late work will receive a 10 point per day penalty.
Test Grades: 30 % Students must attend tutorials (Mondays through Thursday after school) to retake a test.
Projects may be corrected at teacher's discretion if time allows.
Six Week Tests: 20% Six weeks tests may be retaken before the final day of the six weeks during tutorials.
Semester Tests: 25% of semester grade These tests are cumulative for the semester. Questions will reflect knowledge from each of the six weeks in the semester. Retakes may not be allowed.
Rules/Procedures:
1. RESPECT.
2. Keep you hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
3. NO BACK TALK.
4. Make smart choices.
5. Follow directions quickly, quietly, and completely.
